Welcome to Malton School, A Specialist Science School

Stronger for being one

Malton School

Malton School (1971-present)

The current school was founded in 1971 as a comprehensive school. The two former schools merged, with the Grammar School becoming the East Wing, and the County Modern becoming the West Wing. The Head, John Gresswell, began making annual reports to the PTA every October, from 1975 to 1988.  These reports have all been summarised., and provide a good picture of life and changes at school and in education.  The school roll has varied greatly since its inception in 1971 - rising to 717 in 1977-8 and falling to 487 in 1994-5.  Currently the trend is back upwards, at 750+, with the largest intake since 1977 coming into the first year in September 2002, and significant increase numbers in the sixth form from 2009.
