Revolting RhymesJo Leeson
Since Christmas all year 7s have been exploring a different Revolting Rhyme in their drama lessons. We have explored the themes and characters and looked at possible ways of developing them into a performance on stage. As we have drama lessons once a fortnight this has only given us three lessons to pull the plays together and devise our own version of Roald Dahl’s gruesome tales!
Students were asked to choose an option for this project from:
Technical (lighting, sound or stage management)
Design (set, props, costume or makeup)
Every Year 7 has been involved in creating the shows and over 100 students were involved on the evening. Drama Teacher, Mr Lee said “it was incredible to see so many students involved in producing a show at this stage in their school career. It was entirely inclusive and gave every one the chance to show their talent whether that was on stage, or behind the scenes. I hope that it will enstill in the students a love of theatre and I look forward to seeing their talents develop over the coming years”.
Each year 7 class performed a devised version of Roald Dahl’s tales from his revolting collection:
7M – Little Red Riding Hood
7N – The Three Little Pigs
7P – Cinderella
7Q – Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
7R – Jack and the Beanstalk
