We encourage all students to take a full part in the many extra-curricular activities available. These may vary from trips and residential experiences, both within the UK and further afield to sporting activities and participation in school teams and musical groups.
From Autumn term 2016 our school day changed to enhance the quality of teaching and learning. A key part of the timetable changes are an additional lesson on Thursdays when school finishes at 4.25pm. This extra hour focuses on the acquisition of wider skills where students can choose from a wide range of personal development activities.
These include anything from climbing, archaeology and aerobics to debating, gardening and charitable work. From KS4 students are also able to sign up for the Duke of Edinburgh in these sessions.
A Homework Club operates Monday to Thursday from 3.45pm – 5.00pm. There are staff available to help with those difficult tasks. Maths help is also available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 3.45pm – 5.00pm. Students can come along for additional help or just to check that homework task.
EATING AT MALTON SCHOOL
A Breakfast Club operates every morning in the West Wing Hall. Students can purchase warm drinks, warm sandwiches and toast.
At break times, the West Wing Hall is open for a selection of warm paninis, rolls, sandwiches and buns along with cold drinks.
At lunchtime, students can purchase warm and cold items from the West Wing Hall and there is also a selection of warm paninis, sandwiches, tray bakes and drinks from the East Wing Quad.
Both the West and East Wing have water fountains with ice cold water available throughout the day. Students are advised to bring their own water bottle with them to school to fill up, as the school does not hold a stock of bottles or cups for water.
