YEAR 9 BOYS FOOTBALL DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

YEAR 9 BOYS FOOTBALL DISTRICT CHAMPIONS

The Year 9 Boys were crowned district football champions with a 2-0 win over a strong Eskdale side. Malton edged the early exchanges despite the absence of Ethan Oakes through injury.  Opportunities were limited, thanks to strong defending from both sides.  Josh Mann, in particular, impressed for Malton at the back.

After a series of chances created by the hold up play of Callum Moston, it was Malton who took a deserved lead through Will Hartley’s calm finish. The strong running of Jack Mudd-Bowes and Ben Flinton constantly stretched the Eskdale defence, creating the openings to test the Eskdale keeper on a number of occasions.

Despite dominating the possession, Malton were thankful for an athletic fingertip save from Tom Owen. It kept Malton in the lead as they pushed for a second.  Callum Moston finally got his reward for his tireless work, firing home to ensure Malton went home with the Cup.

Mr Green Head of PE who accompanied the boys to the Pickering Town ground said “They all played a fantastic game today and are extremely deserving of this trophy”.
