Student Festival Bake-Off

Six Year 9 students from Malton School are taking part in a bake-off final at the Malton Food Festival this weekend.
The competition takes place at Malton Cookery School where students will have to adapt a traditional recipe for a Suet Roll.
The students in the final are India hall, Rosie Smith, Phoebe Nicholson, Jaden Jefferson, Jack Robinson and Lily Thompson.

Remembering the Wars

At the end of April a group of Year 10 students and members of staff visited the Battlefields in Northern France continuing the centenary commemorations with a focus on the events of 1917.
Students were encouraged to research their own family history to see if they had any relatives who died in the war. Wherever possible an effort was made to locate the cemetery or memorial where they were commemorated.

Duke’s Award Expedition Success

Students from Malton School recently completed their first practice expeditions in the North Yorkshire Moors. With such a large cohort of students these were split into two groups.

Each group started on their expeditions on a Thursday from the villages and towns surrounding the North Yorkshire Moors.  Starting locations ranged from Ingleby Greenhow to Great Ayton and on to Guisborough.

High Jump Champions

Congratulations to our new District junior boy, junior girl and intermediate boy high jump champions!
Year 11 student George Austin Thompson won the Intermediate Boys, Year 9 student Elliot Kettlestring won Junior Boys and Year 9 student Isabel Matique won Junior Girls.
All cleared a massive 1:55m. This was a great personal best for Elliott as his previous best was 1:50m and a great personal best too for Isabel who had a previous best of 1:54m.

Cheering on the Tour

Year 7 and 8 students turned out in support of the Tour de Yorkshire on Friday.


Students gathered along Broughton Road near the Sports Centre with artwork they had produced in art lessons of the cyclists.
The Year 7 students also waved their decorative M-A-L-T-O-N S-C-H-O-O-L banner.

The tour had started at Bridlington and was on its way to Scarborough on the first day of the race.
