Spring Sporting Success

With the return to face-to-face teaching for all students in March, we had just enough time before the end of the term to complete all the girls house matches in Years 7-11.  With every female student playing at least one match there were some hard-fought games and some very tight wins.

Y7 Netballers

Congratulations to our Year 7 Netballers who have really gelled together. As a team they have recently finished runners-up in the Whitby, Ryedale Partnership Netball tournament which was held at Lady Lumley’s School. They are now looking forward to playing in matches after the Christmas break.

U16 Girls Football Success

Our U16s team have had a great fortnight. The girls secured a win against Rossett School in the U16 County Cup they then went on to win the U16 One Day Shield where they didn’t lose a goal against the other teams. There next game saw them take the win against south Hunsley in the U16 National Cup and have beaten Ryedale in the quarter final of the District Knock-Out Cup. Family Carol Service

Students, staff, parents and grandparents joined together for some festive carols at our annual Family Carol Service on Tuesday evening at St Mary the Virgin Church, Old Malton.
It is one of the most enjoyable festive events in the run up to Christmas with the Glee Club adding their own touch to the carols’ verses. This year year 12 Heather Staples sang and Year 9 Jennifer Staples played the clarinet.

A Festive Evening of Talent

Earlier this week our Christmas concert took place in the West Wing Hall. The audience were entertained with singing and dancing.



A number of students showed their talents on the piano and their instruments with beautiful renditions of popular culture as well as the token Christmas favourites.

This concert is a real student led affair with lighting and stage management being run by students from varying year groups.

Tournament Triumph

Well done to the U15 girls’ hockey team who won the Whitby and Ryedale Partnership Tournament at Lady Lumley’s School. The girls played fantastically well with great teamwork, communication and confidence in adverse weather conditions.
The majority of the team were Year 10 students apart from Emily Carroll, Izzy Matique, Katie Robinson and Lily Palmer from Year 9.
Congratulations to all the players.

Cross Country Winners

Well done to our Cross Country team for scooping top places in the District Cross Country Finals at Duncombe Park recently.
Overall the Year 8 Boys and Year 9 Girls came 1st and the Year 8 Girls came 2nd in the combined race. The Year 8 Boys and Year 9 Girls came 1st and the Year 9 Boys came 2nd in their year group races.

Rehearsals are well underway for our next school extravaganza – Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.
