Students and parents had the chance to explore career, further education and apprenticeship avenues at an event hosted by Malton School this week.
More than 35 local employers ranging from the Army through to Travel and Tourism had stands at the careers’ event in the West Wing Hall.

Expedition Preparations

Our Duke of Edinburgh’s Award students have been taking part in a range of volunteering, physical and skill-based activities.

From helping out in local libraries to supporting in student leadership roles our students are fully engaged in a range of different opportunities.
A total of 34 students from the group have achieved their Qualsafe Level 2 First Aid at Work qualification as part of their skill section.

Microbiologists present at Cafe Scientifique

Our Microbiology students were offered the opportunity to present their experimental findings at a Cafe Scientifique event at the City Screen basement in York last night.
Year 10 students Isabel Donaldson, Harriet Podmore, Rowan Lyall and Year 9 student Joseph Banks presented their research into Roman eye medicine.

Students from Ripon Grammar, Boroughbridge High School and Fulford School also presented the research they had been doing in microbiology.

Go Girls’ Football

We wish our U14 Girls’ Football Team all the best in their semi-final English Schools’ FA National Cup match next week.
The U14 team made it through to the quarter-final stage last week after a 2-1 victory over Durham Johnson school from Bishop Auckland.
They will travel to Harrogate next week to face Rossett School in the National Cup semi-final.

National level for boys’ football team

Well done to our Year 8 boys’ football team who have done fantastically well by playing at national level.
Unfortunately, the boys just missed out in the last 16 of the national competition game at Benfield School in Newcastle with a very close 5-4 result.
They have done so well in both the national and county cups. We wish them well in their next county cup game.

Experimenting in the Lab

A group of our Microbiology students visited York University this week as part of their project researching Roman Eye Medicine.

Malton School is part of a group of schools who are studying microbiology. The visit to York University meant the students were able to carry out high level techniques and practical experiments in a category 2 laboratory.

Parents’ Forum: iPad Know-How for Parents

Restart a Heart Day

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service has been in school to provide free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to mark the European Restart a Heart Day. Training was given to around 20,000 youngsters across 106 secondary schools in Yorkshire. This CPR training was rolled out to Year 8 students who really got to grips with their dummies. Re-direction for drop off and pick up on Middlecave Road PLEASE see attached letter regarding major gas works taking place on Middlecave Road over the next few weeks.
