Disappointed but Still Hopeful after Funding Bid Fails
Following yesterday’s vote by NYC not to ratify RDC’s decision to award CIL funding to local Ryedale projects we are understandably disappointed and somewhat frustrated. However, despite this setback, and given our track record over more than 10 years, it is still our hope and aspiration to bring the health, fitness and wellbeing suite to fruition for the benefit of all the residents of Malton and surrounding areas. It is a plan we believe is firmly inline with national and regional priorities to improve the overall health of local residents.
We know following our Open Week that the public were overwhelmingly positive and in support of our plans to expand the Centre to enable us to offer even more services for the community and to work with an even wider group of regional health providers and local sports clubs and societies. With the loss of the CIL funding, and therefore the matched external funding, £800,000 of benefit has been lost to this area from our project alone.
We will therefore take some time now to review where else we may be able to apply for funding. If any businesses and organisations in the area have any suggestions as to how we can take this forward, we would be delighted to hear from you. Equally, we also look forward to hearing further from and working with NYC to support health projects in the Ryedale area.
