Calendar & Events

Autumn Term

We host a number of events throughout the Autumn Term to which prospective parents and students are warmly invited.  The key events are highlighted below.  For exact details of dates and times, please refer to our Calendar.

Year 7 Transition

The first day of the Autumn Term each year, we invite students from Years 7 and 12 only.  This gives new students a whole day to refamiliarize themselves with the layout of the school, the format of the school day and start to settle in and get to know their peers, without the pressure of older students being around.  Students will also receive their iPad on their first day.

Later in the Autumn Term (usually October) we also hold an Evening for Year 7 parents to help answer any questions they may have about the school day, our system of positive discipline, homework expectations, as well as the pastoral support available.

Year 12 Transition

Year 12 starts with an initial induction day.  As with Year 7, this gives students the time and opportunity to re-familarise themselves with the layout of the school, the format of the school day, collect and log onto their iPad and start to build new friendships.  Towards the end of the first month, we hold a second induction day with a focus on team-building.

We also hold an Evening in mid-September for Year 12 parents and students to help answer any questions they may have about life and study in Sixth Form, which does differ in a number of ways to study in Years 7-11.

Main School Open Evening

Usually held in late September or early October, this is a great opportunity for prospective parents and students in Years 5 and 6 to visit the School, hear from the Headteacher, Mr Williams, meet staff and students, tour the school campus and find out all we have to offer those considering joining us in September of the following year.

Year 7 Applications

Applications to join Malton School in Year 7 are made via the North Yorkshire County Council website.  The application window opens in early September, and applications must be received via the website by 31 October of Year 6.  For more information, please visit: https://www.northyorks.gov.uk/apply-place-primary-or-secondary-school

Sixth Form Open Evening

The Sixth Form Open Evening takes place in early November each year.  Hosted by the Headteacher and Director of Sixth Form, the evening provides prospective Year 10 and Year 11 students and their parents with the opportunity to visit the School, see our facilities as well as talk to subject staff and current Sixth Formers.
