Calendar & Events

Summer Term

The final term of the School Year is an opportunity to plan and prepare for the upcoming year as new students look to join the school and existing students prepare to move on.  The key events are outlined below.  For exact details of dates and times, please refer to our Calendar.

Year 12 Pre-Registration Day

In late June, all prospective Year 12 students are invited to Sixth Form to meet their subject teachers, tutors and fellow students and begin the process of transition to Sixth Form.  As part of this, students are encouraged to undertake preparatory work for each subject over the summer and in advance of starting their studies in September.

School Open Day

In early July every year, the School hosts an Open Day when prospective parents and students in Years 5 and 6 can see the school in operation on a ‘normal’ school day.  Visitors are welcomed by the Head and can then take a tour of the school, guided by our students who are there to answer any questions they may have.  This provides prospective students and parents with a unique insight into the life of Malton School.

Year 5 Science Days

Every year we invite Year 5 students from local primary schools, including our feeder schools, to a day of interactive science-based activities.  These days provide a great opportunity for primary students to engage with science in a fun and hands-on way, enhancing their primary learning and for many of them giving them their first introduction to a fully-equipped science laboratory.

Year 7 Transition Days

Towards the end of the Summer Term, all students who will be joining us in Year 7 are invited to spend two days with us, meeting their form tutors, getting to know their fellow students and starting to work their way around school.  These are informal days at which students can ask questions and begin the transition to secondary school.

In addition, we host an information evening for parents and students at which there is also the opportunity to purchase school uniform in readiness for September.

GCSE Results Day

Members of the Senior Leadership and Pastoral Teams will be in school during the morning of results day to congratulate students and help them finalise their post 16 choices.  If a student is unable to be in school on the day to collect their results, arrangements can be made to email results home.  Certificates are published later in the year and given to students at the KS4/KS5 Celebration Evening.

A Level Results Day

As with GCSE Results Day, members of the Senior Leadership and Pastoral Teams will be in school during the morning of results day to congratulate students and offer advice as required to enable students to confirm their further study, apprenticeship or employment places.  If a student is unable to be in school on the day to collect their results, arrangements can be made to email results home.  Certificates are published later in the year and given to students at the KS4/KS5 Celebration Evening.
