Essential Information

PTA

The PTA is an important part of school life and is made up of staff and parents, brought together with the common aim of enhancing the experience of our pupils during their time at Malton School.

Much of the work that the PTA undertakes is to help school make a success of events throughout the year, particularly where community and school are brought together.  We often help to run a bar or provide soft refreshments at school productions, visitor talks and Celebration Evenings.  We always provide refreshments for parents and visitors at Sports Day too.

Another vital role of the PTA is fundraising.  PTA funds help provide additional learning resources; contribute to improving the school environment based on pupil feedback and benefit extra-curricular projects.  Departments are invited to bid for PTA funds twice a year to help them buy extra resources.

The PTA also gives parents the opportunity to become actively involved in school life, to meet other parents and to meet regularly with staff to support the pupil- teacher-parent partnership and importantly to have a voice.  The PTA meets at least once a term and the Headteacher or Deputy Head are always present.

Finally, PTA meetings and events provide an opportunity for parents and staff to meet and socialize which is often quite difficult once a pupil moves into secondary education.  The PTA is also there to welcome new parents and pupils to school during the Year 6 induction events.

Parent Forums

Once a term the PTA arrange a Parent Forum evening, selecting a relevant topic to be presented by appropriate staff.  It provides the opportunity for an informal Question and Answer session.  For the date of the next forum, check our events section at the bottom of this page.

Get Involved

Parents don’t need to join the committee to be involved.  All parents are very welcome to attend any of the PTA meetings, to make suggestions to the PTA committee for future fundraising events or to put ideas forward for how funds might best be spent.  Simply volunteering to help at any of the future events provides a valuable contribution to the work of the PTA.  For further information or to put your ideas forward, contact PTA Chair, Claire Heaton at PTA@maltonschool.org.
