Malton School EntertainsJanet Burrows
On Saturday, 2 March from 7pm, the Milton Rooms in Malton will be filled with the sound of music in a concert organised by Malton Town Council in aid of the Mayor’s charities, and featuring Malton School orchestra and choir, as well as local group Charity Brass.
Malton School’s music teacher, Mr Peter Woodrow, has drawn together a massed choir and orchestra of pupils not only from Malton School, but also primary school children from Amotherby, Leavening, Rillington, Weaverthorpe and West Heslerton. From the ‘Sound of music’ to ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ the programme will consist of well-known classics from across the decades – and promises to have something for everyone.
Mr Woodrow, who started rehearsing with the performers back in December last year, is excited at the prospect, “This is a great opportunity for young musicians of all ages in the area to gain concert experience, improve their skills and get to know other musicians. It’s a real cross-age and cross-district opportunity and we’re thrilled to be taking part.”
Charity Brass, a group of passionate and experienced brass players from the local area have also promised a varied repertoire to make everyone smile – and get those feet tapping.
