pastoral support KS3

We recognise that when your child joins secondary school, the transition process is key in enabling them to settle in well and make good progress, and so we have a dedicated Head of Year 7 and separate Heads for each of Years 8 and 9, as well as a Director of Key Stage.

Ms Morris works closely with Year 6 students as they make the transition from primary to secondary school and throughout their first year with us.  During the summer term (at the end of Year 6), Ms Morris will visit the majority of the primary schools to meet our new students and begin to get to know them.  Ms Morris also organises the transition programme for parents and students.  More information on the Y7 transition process, can be found here.

When your child moves into Year 8, their Head of Year will work with them for their remaining 2 years in KS3.  This means they can get to know and understand your child.

At the end of KS3, your child’s Head of Year will meet with the KS4 Heads of Year to help ensure another smooth transition into Year 10.

In Key Stage 3, the Heads of Year are currently:

The Director of Key Stage is Mr Oakes who is also an Assistant Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (rao@malton.pmat.academy)

If you have any concerns about your child’s wellbeing, please contact the relevant Head of Year.  If your concerns are related to the progress your child is making in a particular subject, please contact the subject teacher concerned in the first instance.
