We recognise that uniform costs can present a barrier to participation in education, and we are committed to ensuring this is avoided wherever possible.
As a Pathfinder school, we are committed to ensuring that our school uniform is affordable, inclusive, and accessible to all families. We prioritise simplicity in uniform requirements, minimise the use of branded items, and ensure that essential items are, wherever possible, widely available from multiple retailers at competitive prices.
School Uniform
All students in Years 7-11 are required to wear uniform. We expect all students to dress tidily and look smart:
- Top button done up on shirts
- Ties done up to the collar with the school crest showing.
- Shirts tucked in.
- Skirts or shorts worn on top of the knee.
- Blazers should be worn on entry to and exit from all lessons and to assemblies.
- Clothing must not be decorated with motifs, badges or insignia or contain extra colours.
- Every item of clothing should be marked clearly with the student’s name.
As students move through school, and by earning housepoints, they are able to work towards their house ties and eventually half colour and full colour ties. The awarding of the half and full colour ties brings additional benefits with it to students in Years 10 and 11.
Hair and Make Up
- Hair must be unobtrusively styled and in naturally-occurring tones.
- Long hair should be tied back for PE, Games, Technology and Science lessons.
- Nail varnish must be natural shades. Nail extensions should not be worn in school.
- Make-up should be discreet and entirely natural looking.
Jewellery
- Small ear studs (not hoops) may be worn.
- A single nose stud (not ring) may be worn
- No other items of jewellery (eg necklaces, rings, bracelets) are allowed; a watch may be worn.
- All items of jewellery should be removed for PE and Games. (We would therefore politely request that new piercings are avoided during the academic year).
Footwear
- Students should wear sensible footwear which supports the feet and keeps them warm and dry but do not damage the floors in school.
- Footwear must be plain black.
- No high heels are allowed.
- Plain black, ankle-length lightweight boots are allowed.
Uniform Policy
Full details of what constitutes our uniform, please refer to the following:
- School Uniform Guide: a visual guide to which items can be bought from our uniform supplier (see also below) and which can be purchased from larger retail outlets which sell generic school uniform items.

If there is ever a dispute about what is acceptable for school, the Head’s decision is final.
Uniform Supplier
Our uniform suppliers visit school in early July to help Year 6 students with the purchase of uniform for the September. We have worked with our supplier to minimize the number of specialist items of clothing.
To view the online catalogue which is held by PMG Schoolwear on our behalf, visit their website here. To obtain free delivery to school of any uniform ordered, please use the code MALFCF. This should be inputted as a voucher code at checkout.
PreLoved Uniform
We hold a small supply of preloved uniform (eg shirts, trousers, skirts, PE kit and some blazers) in school. At the Y6 Transition Evening in July each year we hold a second hand uniform sale, along with the sale of new uniform from our supplier. Occasionally throughout the year, depending on our stock levels, we will also hold preloved uniform sales. Information on these will be published in the Parent Bulletin and on our social media sites.
If you have any preloved uniform which you would like to donate to school, this can be brought to WW Reception during school opening hours. Please ensure all items are still in good condition and have been washed.
