Restart a Heart Day

Restart a Heart Day

The Yorkshire Ambulance Service has been in school to provide free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to mark the European Restart a Heart Day. Training was given to around 20,000 youngsters across 106 secondary schools in Yorkshire. This CPR training was rolled out to Year 8 students who really got to grips with their dummies. We caught a glimpse of a number of paramedics in the making! If someone suffers a cardiac arrest, their chances of survival double if it happens in front of a bystander who immediately starts CPR before the ambulance services arrival. Many thanks to the YAS for coming into school to train our students in a lifesaving skill, which could make a huge difference in a real life situation.
