Academic success and the general well-being of pupils are best served by close co-operation between home and school. We want all our students to thrive and flourish throughout their time with us. Working alongside the teaching staff and form tutors, we have a dedicated pastoral team for each of the Key Stages. Pastoral staff are available throughout the day to support both students and parents should any issues arise.
The school’s pastoral system is based initially on the form group; students should address queries, problems or concerns to their form tutor in the first instance who can follow up with the Pastoral staff. Form tutors meet their forms daily.
Our Pastoral teams are:
Key Stage 3:
Ms L Davison – Head of Key Stage 3 and Senior Pastoral Lead
Mrs S Beal – Assistant Head of Key Stage 3, working primarily with Year 7 students
Miss J Loughran – Assistant Head of Key Stage 3, working primarily with Year 8 and 9 students
key stage 4:
Mrs D Johnson – Head of Key Stage 4
Mrs S Holden – Assistant Head of Key Stage 4
Key stage 5:
Mrs S Holden – Assistant Head of Key Stage 5
Mrs R Pulling – Assistant Head of Key Stage 5
Additionally, the school employs a mentor, Libby Pearson, who works alongside the pastoral team. She is available to listen and work with students who may be finding either school or life in general, or indeed both, a little difficult.
Mr Else is the Head of Inclusion and SENCO and works to ensure the correct provision is in place for all our students who may have additional requirements.
home to school contact
In addition to regular parents’ meetings for consultation with subject teachers, there are special meetings in the summer before Year 7 entry to the school, in Year 9 when guided course choices are being made, in the autumn of Year 11 to give information about the Sixth Form and in Year 12 to explain the procedures for applying to universities and colleges.
