The Sixth Form at Malton

External Support

We believe it is important to expose our students to as wide a choice of career pathways as possible.  As such we organise visits and speakers to enable students to gather information, ask questions and speak to older students about their career choices.  Opportunities students are offered include:

  • Ampleforth College Careers Fair which brings together providers and speakers to explore opportunities post 18.
  • UCAS Discovery Regional Exhibition where students can meet representatives from universities and apprenticeship providers.
  • Early Applicant Support at Harrogate Grammar School Hub where Oxbridge/ Medical/Dental students can get the interview experience and meet with applicants from the region.
  • Coventry University Scarborough Campus visit to explore higher degree apprenticeship options.
  • Information day with Oxbridge representatives to help prepare students for the application process.
  • Entrance exam and mock interview support from experts.
  • Post 18 Information Evening for students and parents to include information about student finance.
  • Expert talks, webinars and visits from external networks.

Unifrog believe that destinations – where students end up after school – is even more important than their academic performance. They partner with schools to support students to progress into the best opportunity for them. Unifrog do this by providing a one-stop-shop where students can explore their interests, then find and successfully apply for their best next-step after school.

All of our students therefore benefit from using the Unifrog platform during their time here. It brings into one place every apprenticeship, university course and college course in the UK, a wide range of career profiles, a vast selection of MOOCs (open online courses), advice on building employability skills, School Leaver Programmes and many other enrichment opportunities. The platform makes it easy for students to write their CVs, Personal Statements and record their activities.

Students who are applying for a university place, will use UCAS – the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service. UCAS is an independent charity, and the UK’s shared admissions service for higher education.

Their services support young people making post-18 choices by providing information, advice, and guidance to inspire and facilitate educational progression to university, college, or a degree apprenticeship.

Parents can sign up to the UCAS newsletter here. You can also find out more about UCAS here or by using the widget below:
