The Sixth Form at Malton

Lanyards

All members of the school community are expected to be either in school uniform or wear a lanyard.  (Sixth Form students have a Dress Code rather than uniform).  This is so that people who should not be on the school site can be quickly identified and means that students who are not wearing lanyards can expect to be challenged by members of staff.

You will be issued with a lanyard at the start of Year 12.  This is both your ID card and your means to register in and out of school, given that you will not be on a full timetable as you were in Years 7-11 and will have a greater degree of flexibility than in Lower School.  Your lanyard must be worn and visible at all times when on the premises (unless specifically asked to remove it eg by your science, technology or PE teachers during a practical).  You can expect to be challenged by members of staff if you are not wearing your lanyard and persistent failure to wear a lanyard may result in loss of privileges (eg agreed absence) and sanctions being put it in place.

Because it is an important safeguarding tool, if you lose your lanyard you must advise a member of the Sixth Form Pastoral Team.  Replacement cards can be purchased for £2.50.
