The Sixth Form at Malton

Rob Williams

Welcome from the Head

Our Sixth Form attracts highly motivated students from Malton, Norton and the wider Ryedale area, together with some from the private sector. We pride ourselves in making the transition for you, from Year 11 to Sixth Form, as smooth as possible, integrating students quickly, valuing each student as an individual, and giving you that firm foundation for future success.

Students are happy here. They have strong working relations with staff, whilst sparking off each other in a way that draws the best out of everyone. The teaching is excellent and students perform well: many move on to the best universities in the country. Our vocational courses have a fantastic track record, leading directly into employment or apprenticeships through our links with local employers.

The Sixth Form was rated Outstanding during our last Ofsted inspection (2023).  Following the visit, inspectors commented:

  • Sixth Form students enjoy an exceptional educational experience.
  • They are taught by highly knowledgeable teachers.
  • They receive an exceptional array of personal development experiences.
  • Sixth Form students make excellent progress through the curriculum.

This has been reflected in the School’s A level results, which mean that the vast majority of our students successfully achieve what they need to progress onto their chosen next career step – be that university, apprenticeship, employment or a gap year. In 2025, of those students who applied to university, 96% were placed at an institution of their choice.

At Malton, we are committed to the provision of varied, engaging and stimulating teaching and learning in every class, together with a wide range of extra-curricular activities that will enhance your education and give you the platform for future success.  Whatever your background, we are confident that Malton Sixth Form will give you a caring, supportive and challenging environment to inspire you to be the best you can be.

We look forward to welcoming you in September.
