Year 12 Applications

Applications to study with us in September of Year 12 open in November of Year 11, following our Open Evening.  If you would like to join us in Year 12, applications are made direct to the Sixth Form at Malton.

The deadline for applying is the end of January the following year (for September 2026 entry this is Friday, 30 January 2026).  Whilst we will accept applications after this date, up to and including the start of Year 12, we regret that we are unable to make any changes to the Option Blocks to accommodate student requests after the end of January application deadline has passed.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

Students who meet our entry requirements for their chosen courses of study, whether from Malton School, or joining us from another school in the area, will be offered a place to study with us.

Our entry requirements are designed to be accessible to as many students as possible. However, we do have a minimum entry requirement of 4 GCSEs at grade 4 and above, to include English or Maths for vocational courses, and a general minimum entry requirement of 5 GCSEs at grade four or above to include English and Maths for A level courses.  In addition, some of our subjects, particularly for A level courses, have enhanced requirements.  We would strongly recommend that you check these before applying to study a particular subject.

If you have any concerns about our entry requirements and would like to discuss your chosen subjects with us in advance of applying, please email sixth@maltonschool.org.

Occasionally, there will be special circumstances whereby a student is permitted to enter with less than the stated requirements above, but this will be conditional on meeting certain criteria both before and during the induction period.  In all cases students will be expected to sign a learning agreement making a commitment to meet our high expectations of attitude to study.  Entry is at the discretion of the Director of Sixth Form, in consultation with the Headteacher.

Applications to join us in September 2026 for a 2 year programme of study, will go live at the Open Evening, using the Apply Now button at the bottom of this page.

Applications are made through an online portal which will enable you to manage the entire application process.  Please be aware the initial process differs slightly for external applicants to Sixth Form and Malton School applicants:

• If you are an external applicant please apply on the portal as a “New Application”.
• If you are a Malton School student please apply on the portal as an “Existing User”, using the login details previously emailed to you.
