Week 6 Sporting Action

Week 6 Sporting Action

Here’s the latest roundup of action from our sporting teams over the last week.

Football

The U16 girls’ football team were in action in the County Cup. They travelled to York to play Bootham School and secured a comfortable 2-0 win. Special mention to Lottie who set up both goals, and to goal-scorers Honor and Lily.

After their impressive wins last week, the Year 8 boys football team had a 2nd round game in the National Cup, travelling to Hull to play against Kelvin Hall School.  In spite of playing against a strong side, the team once again achieved an impressive result, winning 9-4.  Two members of the team Seb and Lewis both impressed with their hat-tricks, but special mention also to Theo who netted himself a brace, and Ewan’s goal which brought the total to 9.  There were also some very strong defensive performances from Bali, Charlie and Ronnie.  After such great performances 2 weeks in a row, the team are now really looking forwards to the 3rd round draw.

Hockey

The U16 girls’ hockey team were in action at Lady Lumley’s for the Ryedale and Whitby Partnership Tournament. They played exceptionally well and started off with a very strong win (4-0) against Lady Lumley’s School, before drawing their 2nd match against Fyling Hall School.  It looked as if their final match was also going to end in a draw, but then in the last 3 minutes of the game, Ryedale School managed to get a ball past the defence and keeper.

The Year 9 girls hockey team were also in action in the same tournament at Lady Lumley’s and again had very similar results – winning 1 game, drawing one and losing the final match.

Well played to all our teams this week.  Next week our football, netball, hockey and rugby teams are all in action.  We’ll bring you a roundup of results again next week.
