Y11 Students Shine
There were happy scenes at Malton School this morning as students, parents and staff were celebrating another very good set of GCSE results. The lovely atmosphere reflected the widespread success of students gaining what they needed to move on to their desired next career step. The following headline percentages were achieved from all students entered:
- 72% achieved at least a Level 4 or above in both English and Maths;
- 53% achieved a Level 5 or above in both English and Maths;
- 68% achieved Level 4 or above in five or more subjects, including both English and Maths.
Director of Upper School, Tom Green, said, “I am very proud of these students. They have worked well, supporting each other, developing skills and they thoroughly deserve the success they have had today. I wish them all the best for the future.”
Headteacher, Rob Williams, said, “Today’s success is down to the hard work that these young people have put in and to the dedication of the staff team. I am delighted for the students and I am looking forward to working with many of them over the next two years in our Sixth Form.”
One particular story can represent all the achievements celebrated today. Triplets (Illia, Kiril and Yaroslav) came to Malton from Ukraine at the start of the war, speaking no English. They settled into school and developed their language skills, assisted by our 1:1 iPad scheme, enabling them to get up to speed quickly with their GCSE courses. They can proudly boast the achievement of ten GCSE passes each, all at Level 4 plus, including 12 grades at Level 7 plus (6 of which were Grade 9s).
